Frequently Asked Questions
The strongest luxury destinations are Marbella and the Costa del Sol for seaside glamour, Mallorca and Ibiza for top-tier Mediterranean islands, and Barcelona and Madrid for design and city hotels. For winter sun the Canary Islands shine — Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote — while in Andalusia, Seville offers historic city luxury.
It depends on the region. The Balearics and the Costa del Sol are at their best from May to October, with the warmest weather and full resort operations in July–August. Barcelona, Madrid and Andalusia are most pleasant in spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October), when the heat is milder and the cities less crowded. The Canary Islands work year-round and are Spain's first choice for winter sun.
A five-star hotel usually starts at around €250–450 a night, while the most exclusive beach resorts, design hotels and palace-style properties sit at €700 and up. Prices peak in high season (July–August on the coast) and around major city events — spring and early autumn buy you more for the same money at the same hotel.
Both — Spain is unusually strong at each end. Couples will find plenty of adults-only hotels and romantic boutique properties, especially on Mallorca, in Marbella and on Ibiza. Families get spacious resorts with pools, kids' clubs and all-inclusive along the Costa del Sol and in the Canaries — Fuerteventura is a favourite for families who want world-class beaches.
In short: Mallorca for the most variety (secluded coves, finca hotels and a lively capital), Ibiza for glamour, beach clubs and nightlife, and Marbella for classic Costa del Sol luxury with golf, spas and shopping. If you want peace and nature, choose Mallorca's north coast; if you want buzz, choose Ibiza.
Yes. Spain is one of Europe's leading food nations with plenty of Michelin stars in Barcelona, Madrid, the Malaga area and the Basque Country, and many luxury hotels have award-winning restaurants of their own. Spa and wellness are standard at the top end — thalasso by the sea, rooftop pools in the cities and extensive treatment menus at the resorts.
