Frequently Asked Questions
It depends very much on what you're after. Playa Blanca suits those seeking classic resort life with easy beach access; Puerto del Carmen offers a livelier atmosphere with a long seafront promenade; Puerto Calero appeals for its calm marina setting and boutique feel; while Arrecife has an urban character and sits closest to the airport.
For the most popular luxury hotels, booking three to six months in advance is advisable to secure availability. Add an extra month or two if you're planning to travel over Christmas and New Year or during peak school holidays.
Several five-star resorts offer family suites with additional bedrooms, children's clubs, dedicated paddling pools and family-friendly dining that works well for all ages.
Exceptionally good, on the whole. The best hotels work closely with the island's culinary scene, making excellent use of local produce and offering thoughtfully curated wine lists.
Prices vary according to the hotel, time of year and room type. A night at a quality five-star property generally starts at around €150–€250, while premium suites with a private pool or panoramic views can cost considerably more. Expect prices to rise during high season — July and August, and the Christmas and New Year period in particular.
