How we chose and ordered the hotels

We checked more than forty hotels and holiday properties on Rhodes, from Ixia in the north-west to Kiotari in the south-east. The sixteen that made the list are ordered by guest score. The order therefore tells you how satisfied guests have been, not which setting suits you best, so read the area guide below before you choose.

Each hotel had to state on its own website that it is adults-only. We used booking sites only to find the minimum age where the hotel's own pages did not give one. To qualify, a hotel had to accept guests from 16 at the youngest or have an explicit adults-only policy for the whole hotel. Hotels that only set an age limit of 12, 13 or 14, and adults-only zones inside family hotels, do not count.

Where to stay on Rhodes

Lindos and the bays around it have five of the hotels. Lindos Blu and Lindos Grand are terraced into the hillside above Vlycha Bay, Aquagrand sits on the beach at Navarone Bay just outside the village, Caesars Gardens lies among gardens at Krana about 1 km from Lindos, and Lindian Dream has the quiet bay of Psaltos almost to itself. The setting, with the Acropolis of Lindos above the white village, is the draw. The airport is, however, about 45 to 50 km away, and the hillside hotels mean plenty of steps.

Kiotari, further down the south-east coast, has Mayia and Boutique 5, sister hotels in the H Hotels group. It is the quietest stretch on the list, with little nearby beyond the beach, Lindos about 15 km to the north and the longest airport transfer.

Kolymbia, halfway between Rhodes Town and Lindos, has Casa Cook near Tsambika Beach and two beachfront resorts, Atlantica Imperial and Port Royal. The airport is under 20 km away, but a car helps if you want to eat out.

Faliraki, Kallithea and Ammoudes on the east coast nearer Rhodes Town have five hotels. Kouros is a short walk from the sandy beach and Faliraki's bars and restaurants, Ammades stands on the beachfront along the Kallithea road, Esperos covers a hillside at Ammoudes with a shuttle to the beach, Cabú lies on the Rhodes–Lindos road, and Ella Elissa is an all-inclusive resort at Kallithea. Rhodes Town is around 12 km away and the airport roughly 15 km.

Ixia on the west coast has The Ixian Grand, right on the beach and within easy reach of the medieval Old Town of Rhodes.

Hotels we reviewed but left out

  • Lindos Village Resort & Spa, Lindos Bay Hotel (sold as 16+) and Rhodos Horizon Blu — adults-only, but below our guest-score floor.
  • Kolymbia Bay Art Boutique Hotel and Cook's Club Kolymbia — adults-only, but simpler hotels outside the luxury segment.
  • Amada Colossos Resort — adult zones and family zones inside the same resort.
  • Sentido Apollo Blue in Faliraki and Elysium Resort & Spa in Kallithea — family hotels with adults-only pools or areas.
  • Lindian Village Beach Resort, Mitsis Faliraki and Mitsis Selection Alila — family resorts with kids' clubs.
  • Atrium Prestige and Atrium Palace — family hotels where children stay free.
  • Lindos Mare — a calm hotel near Lindos, but it welcomes children of any age and its own site makes no adults-only claim.
  • Elite Suites by Rhodes Bay in Ixia — now part of a hotel that is not adults-only.
  • The other H Hotels on Rhodes, such as Lindos Princess and Rodos Princess — family hotels; in that group, only Mayia and Boutique 5 are adults-only.

A pattern worth knowing: several large resorts on Rhodes advertise adults-only pools or wings while also welcoming families. We only list hotels where the whole hotel is for adults and that say so themselves.
