Twinpalms Tented Camp Phuket is for couples who want their holiday to feel different from a resort room. It is an adults-only hotel on Bang Tao Beach, where 28 tented suites sit by the sand or beside the lagoons, some with their own pool, and guests describe the result as calm, beautiful and unlike anywhere they have stayed. Staff are the strongest thread in the reviews, quick to help through the hotel app, and the breakfast, the Sunday brunch and the spotless, new facilities follow close behind. The trade-offs come with the setting. The Catch Beach Club is next door, and some evenings its music carries into the tents, particularly those on the beach. Canvas also lets in the sounds of nature and the odd mosquito, and food and drinks are not cheap. Couples and honeymooners who like a little beach-club atmosphere will find a memorable, well-run base; families with children cannot stay, and light sleepers should choose their tent carefully.
