Tauern Spa Hotel & Therme is built around water. The hotel is joined to a thermal bath complex with 16 pools in all, and guests also have a rooftop panorama pool, saunas and an open-air bath. They talk most about the scale of the spa, the views from the top-floor pool, the breakfast and the half-board dinners, and the large rooms with balconies facing the mountains. In summer it works as a base for hiking; in winter the ski bus takes guests to the MK Maiskogelbahn, about 1.5 km away, and on to the Kitzsteinhorn. The size has its downsides. Guests describe the building as a labyrinth, some bathrooms have a transparent glass door or a shower over the bath, and skiers cannot walk to the lift, while the morning bus can be full. Those who want long spa afternoons after skiing or hiking will be happy here; anyone looking for an intimate house close to the slopes should look elsewhere.
