CORE Kaprun wins guests over with its atmosphere. The renovated hotel feels warm and relaxed, the staff are praised in almost every review, and the breakfast and Austrian buffet dinners are generous. Saunas, two pools and a well-equipped gym make good use of a rainy afternoon, and the rooms are mostly large, with balconies facing the garden or the mountains. Families feel at home, and in winter the Maiskogelbahn is about 650 m away with the ski bus stop close by. The weak points lie in the details. Rooms have no fridge, kettle or minibar, some are smaller or older than the photos suggest, and the hot tub is only as warm as the pool. One family found the playroom small. Families and couples who want a friendly, comfortable base for skiing on the Maiskogel and Kitzsteinhorn, or for summer hiking with the included card, will feel at home here.
