The 30-second verdict
What Guests Loved
- The resort is designed to resemble a historic Canarian village, featuring a central plaza and a reception building modeled after a neoclassical church. This architectural approach creates an immersive atmosphere that feels more like a small town than a standard hotel.
- The Corallium Thalasso center is situated right on the water's edge, offering therapeutic seawater circuits with views of the Atlantic. It focuses on traditional hydrotherapy techniques using mineral-rich water drawn directly from the ocean.
Things to Consider
- The village-style configuration means that facilities are spread across a wide area, which can result in long walks between rooms and dining venues. Guests with mobility concerns should request a room located near the central plaza and elevators.
- The popularity of the Thalasso circuit and specialized treatments means that time slots fill up quickly. It is advisable to coordinate spa appointments and restaurant reservations at the start of the stay to ensure preferred timing.

What guests say
Reviews from Google“This hotel is great. Perfect for a sunny break for couples and families. The grounds are superb with lovely gardens. The pools especially are fantastic. There are several of them. Our weather was so good we didn’t try the Spa but that also looks fantastic. There are lots of sunbeds, but prime positions can go early. The Staff are all excellent, from the front desk to the pool bar, everyone was polite, helpful and friendly they made our stay very enjoyable and are a credit to the management. The rooms are good, ours was facing the sea on the ground floor, it was very convenient, it had afternoon sun and was quite spacious. It had tea making facilities the fridge was a bit strange, quite small, about 6” deep and noisy (we turned ours off). The hotel is big, with several blocks of rooms so you need to decide what you’re willing to pay for. The walk-in shower and bathroom were excellent. There was also a walk in wardrobe with a safe and full length mirror. The only negative was there are only a couple of available electric sockets, none of which are by the bed. Also there is no actual dressing table with a mirror even though there is plenty of room. So my wife had to use the bathroom for her hair which is not ideal. Also there are no bedside drawers, just a shelf like unit each side of the bed. These are minor gripes, they didn’t spoil the room but could be easily improved on the next round of redecorating. We’ve stayed here before but never at this time of year. The late sunsets and warm evenings made the hotel a much better experience. When we’ve stayed over winter there are not many places you can sit in relative warmth and the evenings on Gran Canaria are always quite cool and often the wind chill can make them seem cooler so you need a sweater or thin jacket. The bar this time was great they had big TV screens to show the World Cup and the staff were excellent. But we’ve used the bar in the winter and it is cold and not so relaxing. That is one area I think the hotel could improve so that winter holidays are more enjoyable. Overall this is a great 5 star hotel. It is in a great location and offers a fantastic reasonably priced holiday. I think it the best of the Lopesan in Meloneras.”
“Honest Guest Review – Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso The property is visually stunning, beautifully maintained, and offers an excellent breakfast selection. However, several important service and operational issues prevent the hotel from reaching the level expected of a premium resort. ### What needs improvement: - The balcony lighting is extremely bright at night, making it difficult to sleep even with curtains closed. - None of the installed disinfection dispensers worked during my stay. - Very poor signage for smoking areas, despite the website stating the entire resort is strictly non‑smoking. - No clear information on where guests can get small snacks during the day. - No active drink service at the pool; staff rarely walk around, and most do not speak or understand English. - I had to fetch my own Cuba Libre twice at the pub and return the plastic cup myself — and still had to pay for it. - The room was not labeled as having a closed balcony with no option to open the windows. - The room phone crackled heavily, making communication with reception almost impossible. - Noise from an evening event at 21:20 made sleep and even watching TV impossible. - Only very few staff members speak English, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this category. ### Positive points: - The resort grounds are beautiful and well maintained. - Breakfast offers a large and high‑quality selection. The hotel has a great concept and strong potential, but several service standards urgently need improvement to match the expectations of international guests.”
“A quality hotel. Everything whilst we were here was excellent. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only negative for us was the hotel were not able to offer us a late check out ( we are being picked up at 18.00 tomorrow) and have to be out of our room by midday. They have provided us with a hospitality room for 30 minutes to change and shower, however. Not perfect but some help. The first time in 15 year's our hotel has not either extended our check out or a temporary room.”
“There are many great hotels in the island (Villa del Conde one of them) but what differentiates one to other is the personal attention dedicated by the staff. Massive thanks to Gregorio and his line manager Pablo for being so accommodating in a special weekend at the hotel. It was my third time there and will definitely come again”
“This hotel may look five-star, but the service and guest experience fell far short of what I expect from a luxury property. I booked a suite for my children and a separate room for myself. On arrival, I discovered their suite included access to a special breakfast area and lounge. Despite the suite accommodating four people but being occupied by only two, I could not accompany my children unless I paid an additional €40 per day. I just wanted to sit with them! Consequently, they barely used the benefits because we wanted to spend time together as a family. Throughout our stay, we felt more monitored than welcomed. Staff repeatedly checked our room cards despite knowing us by name. My children were also approached at the pool and shouted at, in front of other guests on their second day of the holiday, about a lunch bill that was NOT assigned to their room. This was not a discreet enquiry, it was aggressive, accusatory and embarrassing. Other issues included: 1. Housekeeping entered my room despite a Do Not Disturb sign while I was undressed 2. My children's suite not being cleaned despite the Please Clean Room sign. 3. Tea and coffee were not being replenished in the room, and an attempt to charge me for replacements, when they should be replaced daily. 4. Room service calls going unanswered for over an hour. 5. Undercooked chicken after which I became unwell. 6. Plates being removed while we were still eating. 7. An advertised (as part of the room package) Relax Pack that my children did not get until they asked why, and then it consisted of one bath bomb for two people. I do not believe individual staff members were necessarily the entire problem. They appeared to be following rigid management practices that prioritised enforcement and upselling over flexibility and genuine hospitality. The hotel is beautiful, but we never felt relaxed; we felt tense, scrutinised, questioned and unwelcome. UPDATE 9 July 2026: The handling of my complaint has made matters worse. The hotel's direct email response focused largely on defending its policies while failing to properly address the most serious issues. I have now also been informed that Lopesan told TUI that I did not report the issues during my stay. This is simply not true. I raised my concerns with Hose, the Customer Relations Manager, on at least five separate occasions. Twice I specifically went to reception and asked to speak to him. I spoke to him in the breakfast/lunch room and on further occasions in the reception area. I explained the problems and made it clear that I intended to make a formal complaint. I also complained to a blonde Finnish member of staff at reception, telling her that I was so dissatisfied I would not return and would be making a formal complaint. I also telephoned TUI on the first night of the holiday. I had already spent a significant part of my holiday raising problems and trying to resolve them. I did not want to sacrifice even more family time complaining, so I believed submitting detailed formal complaints after returning home would be more constructive. I am extremely concerned that the hotel has apparently denied that I complained during my stay. These conversations involved identifiable staff in identifiable locations. Every hotel experiences occasional service failures. What distinguishes a genuine five-star hotel is how it responds when things go wrong. Unfortunately, the handling of my complaint has made an already disappointing experience considerably worse. I would not return.”
