Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 1 October 2026 · How we review hotels
The Surin Phuket is built around its beach. The cottages sit among coconut palms on the slope above Pansea Beach, and guests keep coming back to the same points: a clean, quiet bay, warm staff and cottages that feel modern without losing their rustic character. Days revolve around the sand, the pool and the sundeck, where the view over the Andaman Sea is at its best at sunset, and touches such as twice-daily housekeeping and fresh fruit in the room do not go unnoticed. The setting also brings the main trade-off. There are no lifts, only stairs and walkways, which suits some guests better than others. The choice of restaurants is limited for a longer stay, and drinks and the overall price feel steep to some. Patong is about 30 minutes away by car. Couples who want an unhurried beach holiday will be well looked after; anyone who needs step-free access or wants nightlife on the doorstep should look elsewhere.
Guests score it 9.2 out of 10 — the average across the 12 hotels we list on Phuket is 9.1.
What Guests Loved
- The beach is what guests mention first and most often. They describe the sand and the water as clean and the bay as quiet and uncrowded, and several note that it is shared with just one neighbouring resort.
- Guests describe a warm welcome from the moment they arrive and call the staff friendly, helpful and attentive. Returning guests name the staff among the reasons they come back.
Things to Consider
- The resort is built into the hillside around the bay and has no lifts, so everything is linked by stairs and walkways. Most guests accept it as part of the setting, but it comes up often, and one guest felt it suits younger travellers best. The spa is also some way from the main areas.
- Guests enjoy the food, but several find the choice of restaurants and dishes narrow for a longer stay, and a few felt the cooking could be a notch better.
Should you book it?
The Surin Phuket is worth booking for couples who want a quiet beach and unhurried days by the sea — but pick somewhere else if stairs are hard for you or you travel with a pushchair.
