It stands at 2,000 metres beside the top station of the Schmittenhöhebahn, so in winter you can ski from the door after breakfast and in summer walk straight onto hiking trails, with views down to Zell am See. Guests praise the staff, the dinners and the rooms, renovated in 2018, and the spa with its saunas is often quiet. Dog owners feel welcome, and in a summer heatwave the altitude is a relief. Life on the summit has its rules. The hotel can only be reached by cable car, which runs during the day only, so evenings in town are not really an option and arrival times need planning.
