Families seeking an action-packed beach holiday will find VIVA Cala Mesquida Resort & Spa to be a highly suitable match. It holds an 8.8 Booking.com rating from 418 reviews and a 4.6 Google rating from 1600 reviews. The resort features seven distinct outdoor swimming pools, diverse on-site dining, and direct views of Cala Mesquida beach. The main downsides are its isolated location far from major cities and the fact that pool areas become crowded during peak summer.
Guests score it 8.8 out of 10 — the average across the 38 hotels we list in Mallorca is 9.
What Guests Loved
- The resort occupies a elevated coastal position, offering guests immediate access and panoramic views over the dune-backed sands and clear waters of Cala Mesquida.
- With seven pools scattered across the property, guests can choose between lively family splash areas and quieter zones designed for relaxation.
Things to Consider
- Situated on Mallorca's northeastern tip, the resort feels secluded. Guests wishing to explore Palma or the west coast will face drive times exceeding one hour.
- During the height of the summer holiday season, the main pool areas and sun loungers can feel busy, though the expansive gardens offer quieter alternative retreats.

What guests say
Reviews from Google“We had a wonderful 4-night stay at this hotel! The absolute highlight of our room was the breathtaking view of the bay and the sea. The hotel is also incredibly family-friendly; their daily and nightly entertainment programs for kids and families added so much fun and variety to our trip. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Food-wise, the breakfast buffet was extremely diverse, and the dinner menu had something delicious to satisfy absolutely every taste. Highly recommended for a family vacation in Mallorca!”
“This is such a beautiful resort! We stayed in the Royal Terrace One Bedroom Apartment with a Sea View. The room was incredibly comfortable and came with a kitchenette, providing all the basic things a person would need when travelling with kids. The views from our room were spectacular to, I've attached photos of the sunrise - such peaceful and beautiful. It was a bit of a shame that we went at the end of March, as the weather was very cold. Initially, there wasn't good bedding layering available for the chilly nights, but after a quick request, the staff kindly sent up a nice, warm duvet. On a very positive note regarding sleep comfort, the pillow selection was absolutely amazing! Because of the cold, we unfortunately couldn't enjoy the beautiful pools or the hot tub on our terrace. However, the resort itself and the nearby beach are both absolutely gorgeous, and I would love to go again in warmer weather someday. The food was very good and there were lots of vegetarian options available. Unfortunately, they were not clearly labelled. I have noticed all the European resorts have this issue; I think they should mention what's vegetarian and what's not, but they usually don't. That aside, the staff were wonderfully warm and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommended for families!”
“Stayed in this hotel about a week ago and had a wonderful stay. We were 3 friends, no children and yes it is predominantly families but we had a great time Easy check in and greeted with a glass of lovely fizz. Wrist bands which unlock your room, what a revelation, no messing searching for card keys. Amazing family room, so spacious with a lovely balcony and very clean Filtered water stations on corridors. Absolutely amazing food with amazing service from all the staff. Wine and fizz very good. Plenty of sunbeds great service at the pool bars. No-one reserving beds not allowed. And a little stroll to the most amazing beach, heaven. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so wonderful and a special thank you to Mila for looking after us and making the stay that bit more special ❤️”
“I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews about this hotel. Before coming, I was a bit biased because of some comments but after staying here, I can confidently say we had an amazing experience. As Greeks, we are lucky enough to know beautiful islands and good hospitality, so we did not expect to be particularly impressed and we were completely wrong. Everything exceeded our expectations. The entire staff was wonderful: the receptionists, the waiters, and the entertainment team were all incredibly friendly, polite, welcoming, and always willing to help. Their positive attitude really made our stay special. The food was great, with plenty of variety and different choices every day, fresh and very well prepared. We stayed in May, and although the weather was not warm enough, it was absolutely worth it because we avoided the crowds and long queues. The atmosphere was much more relaxing and enjoyable. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we will definitely come back in the future.”
“Beautiful Hotel, but dropped a star We have visited before and were really looking forward to another holiday here. As before, the kids club team were amazing. They are really good with all the children and they interact in such a friendly comforting way. The pools were all very cold... we have paid for selection club and expected a slightly heated pool. It wasn't heated at all. The food was good but we had 2 very "bland" evenings of food. And on the second night I got food poisoning and was in the room very ill for a full day. The nearby beach and rooms are excellent. The room view was just out of this world. Cleaning was also very good. We had a lot of ants in the room. My spa treatment was terrible and was basically a tickley stroke... not a massage. The hotel staff are lovely. For the price, I dont think we shall return for a third time which is a shame because last year it was fantastic”
