Hotel Tennerhof suits travellers who want Kitzbühel with a quieter, more traditional feel. The estate dates from 1679 and sits in a large garden on the slope above town, about 1 km from the centre, with rooms furnished in family antiques and views over the rooftops to the mountains. Guests speak most warmly about the staff and the food, from a breakfast they praise again and again to dinner in the gourmet restaurant, while two pools and a spa round off a ski day. This is not a ski-in/ski-out address: the Hornbahn I lift is about 600 m away, and the free shuttle runs to the Hornbahn and the Hahnenkammbahn throughout the day. The traditional style has a flip side, as some areas feel dated, there is no air conditioning and skiers would like a better-organised ski room. The hotel opens for a winter and a summer season only. Couples who value character and personal service over a slope-side location will feel at home here.
