Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews

By Axel Hernborg · Updated 30 August 2026 · How we review hotels

OKU Kos suits travellers looking for a secluded wellness retreat on the coast. It holds a Booking.com score of 9.3 from 766 reviews and a Google rating of 4.6 from 661 reviews. Guests benefit from a village-style layout, a private sandy beach, and comprehensive spa facilities. A potential drawback is its secluded position far from major town centres, meaning limited nearby public dining options.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning design, a relaxing atmosphere, and a great overall vibe. We genuinely enjoyed our stay, but a few disappointing experiences prevented it from feeling like the luxury experience we expected. The biggest issue happened at the beach. We reserved a sunbed and briefly returned to our room, leaving our tote bag on the umbrella. When we came back, another guest had taken our sunbed and moved our bag onto the sand. We immediately informed the staff, but the situation was never properly resolved, and the other guest was not asked to return to their original sunbed. What made this even more frustrating is that throughout our three-day stay, we saw many guests reserving beach and pool sunbeds with towels and belongings. If reservations are not allowed, the hotel should clearly communicate and enforce that policy consistently. If they are allowed, guests should not be able to move someone else’s belongings and take their spot. There were also a couple of service issues. At checkout, we had to load our luggage into our car ourselves after it was only brought to reception. In addition, there was a loud mechanical/generator noise during the night, and the air conditioning unexpectedly switched off and back on, disrupting our sleep. OKU is a wonderful property with great potential, but luxury is defined by service as much as beautiful surroundings. I hope management addresses these issues so future guests can enjoy the experience the hotel promises.

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and tastefully decorated. Everything was well maintained, and the atmosphere was relaxing from the moment we arrived. The beach is peaceful with soft sand, making it a perfect place to unwind. The sea can be wavy because of the wind, but that didn’t take away from the experience. The food was excellent with plenty of delicious options throughout our stay. The only small downside was that beverages at breakfast took a little longer to arrive. Other than that, everything was fantastic. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again!

It was a nice stay overall and very relaxing. The location, and especially the sunsets, are truly beautiful. The staff is really friendly and nice, but the service is quite slow. Some evenings we had to ask three times to get a bottle of water, and once we even left after the main course because no one bothered to clear the plates or ask about dessert for over half an hour. The pricing feels a bit off, even with half-board, you have to pay small fees for some options. The quality of the food was good, but it would be great if there were more diversity or variation in the menu, because after a few evenings you end up repeating orders (the vegetarian options especially feel like side dishes). The prices for lunch and drinks are quite high, especially combined with the slow service it’ a bit disappointing. I would say calculate 100€ minimum per day on extra fees for drinks and lunch for 2 people. The room we had was basic but had a big, spacious roof terrace. There is a building site right next door, but it was quiet during our stay. It was quite clean, but the room could use some renovation (leaky faucet, chipped paint, broken drawers). The weather, sea, and beach made up for the inconveniences, though, and it was a nice stay overall.

I recently stayed at OKU Hotel in Kos and had a wonderful experience overall. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere of the hotel was calm, stylish, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The property itself is beautifully designed and creates a luxurious yet laid-back feeling. One of the highlights of my stay was the food. The quality of the dishes throughout the day was consistently excellent, with fresh ingredients and great flavors. The breakfast, in particular, was outstanding. There was a wide variety of options available, all beautifully presented, and everything tasted delicious. It was easily one of the best hotel breakfasts I have experienced. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. They made us feel comfortable and were happy to assist with any requests or questions we had during our stay. Another pleasant surprise was the speed of the service. Anyone familiar with the Greek islands knows that things often move at a relaxed pace, but the service at OKU Hotel was relatively fast and efficient without feeling rushed. Overall, OKU Hotel Kos offers an excellent combination of beautiful surroundings, high-quality food, outstanding breakfast, and attentive staff. The relaxed atmosphere, combined with efficient service, made for a memorable stay. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish and peaceful escape in Kos, and I would happily return in the future.

We stayed at OKU Kos for one week and had a good holiday overall. The hotel has a lot of potential and there are many things it does exceptionally well. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn't live up to the standards or service you would expect from a hotel in this price range. Pros: -Beautiful hotel with a high-end, stylish design. You can tell they've invested in quality throughout the property-from the beach loungers to the bedding and overall atmosphere. -Lovely beachfront location with a great pool area. There were always enough sunbeds available, so there was never any need to reserve one. -Great daily activity programme with a good variety of wellness, fitness and other activities. (especially the early morning yoga) -Excellent breakfast with very friendly staff. The muesli/yoghurt bar was a particular highlight. -Very good dinner restaurant. The food in the evening was consistently delicious. Cons: -The service and overall management are unfortunately not on the level of a 5-star hotel. Staff often seemed unorganized and wait times were excessive. One evening we waited around 40 minutes at the terrace/bar area after dinner without anyone even coming to take our order. -There seems to be either a lack of staff or a lack of management. Tables would remain uncleared for long periods, empty glasses stayed everywhere, and service was consistently slow, especially around the bar area. -The lunch/beach/pool menu was by far the biggest disappointment. The prices are very high, but the quality was poor. We received unwashed and partly rotten crudités, undercooked souvlaki, and overall the food did not justify the prices. -We booked the sunset horse riding experience through the hotel. We arrived five minutes early, waited another 25 minutes, and nobody showed up. We eventually had to cancel the activity ourselves. Overall, OKU Kos is a beautiful hotel with fantastic facilities, but the lack of organization and consistently poor service meant that almost every day there was something that went wrong. At this price point, we expected a true 5-star experience, and unfortunately that wasn't the case. We enjoyed our holiday, but we wouldn't return unless the management and service improve significantly.
