Hotel Maiensee

Hotel Maiensee stands at 1,800 m in St. Christoph am Arlberg, the small hamlet above St. Anton, and is run by the Traxl family. It is a true ski-in/ski-out address: the chairlift right next to the hotel takes you into the Ski Arlberg area from December to April, and the blue piste 64 brings you back to the door. The ski school, the practice slope, a drag lift and a baby lift are directly outside, ski passes are sold at the lift office next door, and two sports shops with ski hire are a few minutes' walk away. Rooms range from classic doubles to large suites under the roof, many with views over the Arlberg, and some rooms can be connected for families. Half board includes a breakfast buffet, an afternoon après-ski snack and a four-course dinner with a choice of dishes, served in the traditional Tyrolean parlours; there is also the 1901 lounge and bar, the hotel's own burger bar by the lift and an extensive wine cellar. The spa has a sauna, a steam room and a whirlpool, with massages, aromatherapy and Ayurveda treatments, plus a gym. Families find cots, high chairs, a playroom and free sledges, and parking in the underground garage is free. A free bus runs daily to St. Anton.
