Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews

By Axel Hernborg · Updated 30 August 2026 · How we review hotels

Gloria Palace San Agustin is best for active travellers looking for an expansive thalassotherapy center and easy beach access. It has earned a 4.2 Google rating from 7127 reviews and an 8.6 booking score from 1647 reviews. Key features include multiple outdoor swimming pools and elevated views over the Atlantic Ocean. On the downside, the interior decor feels slightly dated, and the hillside location requires uphill walking.

Its standout feature is the extensive thalassotherapy center, making it an excellent choice for travelers seeking physical relaxation. The elevated position offers a quieter alternative to nearby tourist hubs while keeping the beach within easy reach.

Guests score it 8.6 out of 10 — the average across the 24 hotels we list in Gran Canaria is 8.8.

We stayed recently over the May half term with an all inclusive package and had an amazing time - however somethings could be improved. Snack Bar - Most hostile environment at this hotel and yet the quietest. Hardly anyone was at the snack bar throughout the day and yet staff were screaming at one another across it and seemed stressed everytime we went, even when nobody was there.. which overall ruined the experience. Food - Breakfast was great! However, lunch and dinner had the same options everyday and would hardly switch up - I think for the 5 days we stayed, the restaurant changed their deserts once. Another note is the meat, flavourless and cold - even when taken from the main chefs Communication - One note that is personal to our experience was the lack of communication available to the hotel once your done with your stay. We accidentally left a valuable item in our room after check out and tried contacting the hotel via email and through their social media (as phone number won’t work in the UK) and have had 0 response from their email and been completely ignored on their social media (Facebook) - which isn’t brilliant. Obviously not their fault that our item was left behind, however some contact on how to retrieve it back would’ve been useful.. Other than the negatives, the location of the hotel was brilliant! 5 minute walk from the local mall and 10 mins away from a gorgeous beach. Their free bus service to maspalomas was great and their staff behind the bar throughout the daytime and evening were incredible - amazing drinks and massive shoutout to our amazing server Rueben who really made our experience at this hotel amazing.

Extremely disappointing stay - This was our second stay at Gloria Palace, and it will be our last. Upon arriving at the hotel we were issued our room on the 3rd floor, room 801. It quickly became clear that the air conditioning was not working as the room temperature was unaffected by the system being turned on. Despite complaining to reception on many occasions the issue was not resolved after maintenance visits, nor were we offered a replacement room. On checkout at the hotel we requested a refund of some of our bill due to the discomfort experienced during our stay. The reception manager attempted to get me to sign a 'resolution' form for a late checkout in settlement of our discomfort. This was worth approximately 20 Eur and was taken as a complete insult as to our experience. I refused to sign the document and requested to speak with a higher level manager, this was refused and reception management advised someone would be in contact with us. Two weeks after returning, after chasing them for a response the management refused to issue any refund and said that the issue had been resolved while we were there. They also stated that we had signed a document accepting their offer of 20 Eur. We did not sign the offer, so I assume the hotel have forged this document. During checkout, we also witnessed other guests from the same floor who had experienced exactly the same issue. I am now pursuing the hotel through legal channels to receive a full refund. General hotel condition: The hotel is very tired and numerous health and safety risks are present. Around the pool there are gaps in the tiled surface near drains where a child could easily trap a leg and cause a break. There are broken roof windows in the reception roof and a general feel of tiredness around the place. Amenities: The hotel is extremely oversubscribed and as a result seating is in high competition especially for evening events, this made worse due to the indoor entertainment area not being used in any meaningful way. Staff: The reception staff's attitude is very poor, with one member of staff walking off as I was talking to her and ignoring me. This was witnessed by other guests who looked shocked at her attitude. The lifeguards are more interested in looking at women in bikinis than doing meaningful sweeps of the pool for people drowning and can often be seen chatting up guests. It's sad to see the hotel change since our previous stay, we will not be returning and would advise others to look elsewhere.

The hotel is thoughtfully designed, spotless, practical, and very comfortable. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the service is truly excellent. Out in the pool area, there are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available. The buffet offers a great selection of food and drinks, and the Thalasso spa is perfect for relaxing in salt water. We also used the hotel gym a few times—it’s surprisingly well-equipped for a hotel! My family and I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend it and would definitely come back!

⚠️ Warning for regular guests: the pools are no longer heated this year. We are regular guests at Gloria Palace San Agustín and have been choosing this hotel for our holidays in Gran Canaria for many years. One of the main reasons we always came back was the heated pools, especially during certain times of the year. For this reason, we were quite disappointed to discover that the pools are no longer heated. In addition, the rooftop area is currently under construction, which we believe should be communicated more clearly before booking, as it is also one of the hotel’s highlighted features. That said, we would like to point out that the staff remain as friendly and professional as always, the cleanliness is still excellent, and the food continues to be very good. In those aspects, we have no complaints at all. However, speaking honestly and respectfully, we believe that for the current price there are many other options on the island offering similar or even better value, especially now that the heated pools — which used to be one of the hotel’s key selling points — are no longer available. We truly hope the hotel reconsiders this decision, because we have always enjoyed our stays here and would like to continue returning in the future.

What a wonderful place for a holiday! Everything about our stay was spectacular. The hotel is beautiful, the food is excellent with plenty of choice, and the service from all the staff was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, which made our experience even more enjoyable. The only issue we encountered was that our travel agency did not clearly explain the meal arrangements. We booked on a half-board basis and were surprised to find that drinks were not included with dinner. This resulted in an additional daily expense of around €6–€7 that we had not budgeted for. It would have been helpful to have been informed of this in advance. Apart from that small inconvenience, everything was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We would definitely consider returning in the future.
