Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 1 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Finca Cortesin is for travellers who want to stay put in beautiful surroundings. The estate in Casares, west of Marbella, feels more like a country house than a resort, with gardens, courtyards and whitewashed buildings that guests describe with real affection. Golfers have a championship course on the doorstep, and the spa with its indoor pool and snow cave gives the rest of the party a reason to stay in. The staff are the most praised part of the stay, and many guests are on their second or third visit. Every room is a suite, and six places to eat run from REI's Japanese-Mediterranean cooking to the Italian kitchen at Don Giovanni. The trade-off is distance and price. The beach club is a drive away, the town further still, and breakfast service can falter when the hotel is full. Guests also note that extras add up at this level. For a quiet, self-contained break with golf and spa, however, it is hard to fault.
Guests score it 9.6 out of 10 — the average across the 13 hotels we list in Marbella is 9.1.
What Guests Loved
- Guests return again and again to the setting: mature gardens, whitewashed courtyards and an architecture that feels like a country estate rather than a resort. Several describe the grounds as the reason they keep coming back.
- The 18-hole course by Cabell Robinson has hosted the Volvo World Match Play and the Solheim Cup, and golfers praise both its condition and the care taken of players on the course.
Things to Consider
- The estate sits inland, so the beach club is a short drive away rather than a walk, and a few guests note that they needed the bus to reach the sea.
- Breakfast is praised by many, yet several guests found the service slow or disorganised on busy mornings and the choice narrower than they expected at this level.
Should you book it?
Finca Cortesin Hotel Golf & Spa is worth booking for golfers who want a championship course at the door — but pick somewhere else if you want to walk to the beach or into town.

Reviews from Google“🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We spent a fantastic weekend here, and the hotel itself made a huge impression on us. The beautiful Andalusian architecture, incredibly well-kept gardens, and pool areas provide a sense of complete privacy and peace. 🌴 The on-site staff do a fantastic job – they are incredibly polite, efficient, and ensure everyone feels completely at ease. 🛌 The standard of the rooms and the food are absolutely top-notch. Definitely worth a visit! 👍”
“A wonderful luxury hotel. Made to feel special by all the staff from start to finish, shout out to the lady at front of house with the crystal blue eyes and all the waiting staff in El Jardin for making our stay so memorable. I hadn't told anyone there about my wife's birthday but they obviously picked it up from her passport at check in. Golf was great, there had been loads of rain through off season but it was still very playable in mid March - club down on the 11th tee!”
“The resort is beautiful and the service level is amazing. If you are a golfer I can’t imagine a better spot. The restaurant are also very good. All functions have incredible service, with a staff that are not only good at their job but genuinely want to help the guests to have the best time possible!”
“Incredible bid rooms (3.70 ceiling height) what we really liked. We felt ourselves as a royal family) Very beautiful territory with golf fields, unfortunately it is not allowed to walk there”
“Very top end Not so good golf course, not bad - just not great, even locally. Very bad routing over the land, many good golf holes, several on the boring side. Odd combo, great conditioning Hotel stupendous”
