Aktivhotel Schweizerhof Kitzbühel is built for skiers who want the shortest possible way to the mountain. It stands right next to the Hahnenkammbahn valley station at the bottom of the Streif, so guests ski back to the door and unclip in front of the ski room, while the old town is a two-minute walk away. Guests speak most warmly about the location, the fresh, varied breakfast and the helpful staff, and the ski depot with lockable lockers keeps equipment tidy. In summer the hotel runs guided hikes and four golf courses are close by. The weaker side is the extras: the indoor pool runs cool for some, spa slippers cost extra, rooms have no tea or coffee making and the dinner menu is short, though well cooked. Skiers and active travellers who spend their days outside and want the lift and the town on the doorstep will find it a very practical base.
