The St. Regis Le Morne Resort
Le Morne, Mauritius
Best overallThe St. Regis Le Morne Resort is for guests who want polished service and plenty of choice at the table… It sits by the beach on the Le Morne Peninsula, with views across the Indian Ocean and up to Le Morne Brabant, and the rooms have large bathrooms with a round stone bathtub and a double walk-in shower. The restaurants cover Asian, Indian, French and contemporary cooking, with The Boathouse grill on the beach, and the breakfast gets warm reviews. Guests mention the small personal touches, the cleanliness and a butler service that sorts out whatever they need. The setting has a cost. The resort is a fairly long drive from the airport, off the main highway, and there is little to eat or shop for outside its gates. A few guests noticed service that was less consistent than the rest of the stay. Couples marking a special occasion, and anyone happy to spend the holiday inside the resort, will find a calm and well-run base.
Why this position
Among the three highest guest scores of the 8 hotels we rank here: 9.4 from 835 reviews. Leads the ranking on the weight of evidence: 835 reviews to #2's 337, although #2 scores higher (9.5 to 9.4).

Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge
Le Morne, Mauritius
Peace and quietLakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge is for travellers who would rather wake up in the forest than on the beach… The lodge sits in the hills of Chamarel, surrounded by Black River Gorges National Park and with views out to the ocean, and guests describe a calm, private place with plenty of greenery and wildlife around the rooms. The rooms and suites are spacious and individually decorated, every bathroom has an outdoor shower, and the bar is a favourite spot at sunset. Guests speak highly of the food and of staff who are friendly and quick to help. The setting brings its own trade-offs. Mosquitoes and ants are part of life in the rainforest, and many rooms involve a walk from the main building. The lodge is inland, about 6 km from the coastal village of La Gaulette, so beach days need a car or a transfer. For couples who want quiet and nature, it is a calm place to switch off.
Why this position
Highest guest score of the 8 hotels we rank here: 9.5 from 337 reviews. Scores higher than #1 (9.5 to 9.4), on a smaller body of reviews (337 to 835).

Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa
Le Morne, Mauritius
GolfParadis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa suits travellers who want to split their days between the beach and the golf course… The resort is on the Le Morne Peninsula, on a strip of white sand with turquoise water, and its own 18-hole, par 72 championship course is part of the grounds. All rooms and suites face the Indian Ocean from a balcony or terrace, and in the beachfront ones the sand starts at the door. Guests praise the setting, the size of the rooms, the upkeep of the resort and staff who are kind and quick to help. The main reservations concern cost and consistency. Food and drinks are expensive, and a few guests felt the service did not always match the price. Dinner has a dress code, so pack long trousers. Golfers and couples who plan to spend most of the holiday on the peninsula will find a well-kept resort with plenty to do on land and on the water.
Why this position
Among the three highest guest scores of the 8 hotels we rank here: 9.3 from 790 reviews. Rests on more guest reviews than #2 (790 to 337), at a slightly lower score (9.3 to 9.5).

LUX* Le Morne Resort
Le Morne, Mauritius
BeachLUX* Le Morne Resort is for travellers who want the beach and the sea at the centre of the stay… The resort sits on the sand at Le Morne, and its gardens, five pools and outdoor spaces give guests plenty of room. Kitesurfing and snorkelling are available on site, and staff can arrange diving, windsurfing and bicycle hire. Guests return most often to the spacious rooms, the beach, the food and the friendly staff, and honeymooners in particular write warmly about their stay. The weak points are small but recurring. Clean towels by the pool and on the beach can run out after midday, and guests on the all-inclusive package found that not every restaurant is covered and that some drinks at dinner cost extra. Couples and active travellers who plan to stay on site will find a well-kept base; anyone who wants every meal included should check the board plan before booking.
Why this position
The largest body of guest feedback on this page: 1,646 reviews, averaging 9.1. Rests on more guest reviews than #3 (1,646 to 790), at a slightly lower score (9.1 to 9.3).

Shanti Maurice Resort & Spa
Le Morne, Mauritius
Private poolShanti Maurice Resort & Spa is for travellers who value quiet over a busy resort scene… It lies on the south coast of Mauritius at St Felix, near Bel Ombre, between coral reefs and green mountains, and its suites and villas look out over the ocean from gardens that guests mention again and again. Every villa has a private pool, and some villa categories include butler service. Guests describe the resort as calm and never crowded, the staff as warm and attentive, and the food as fresh and carefully made, with produce from the resort's own garden and nearby farms. There are a few things to weigh up. Some guests found the beds less comfortable than expected, and those on full board were sometimes told that a restaurant was full. In June, outside the main season, the wind can be strong enough to cancel the glass-bottom boat. Couples looking for rest, a spa and space will find it a peaceful choice.
Why this position
The same guest score as #4 (9.1), on a smaller body of reviews (618 to 1,646).

Heritage The Villas
Le Morne, Mauritius
Spa & wellnessHeritage The Villas suits travellers who want the room of a private house with a resort around it… The villas sit on the 18-hole Heritage Golf Club at Bel Ombre on the south coast, and guests describe them as spacious, private and well equipped, with a kitchen, a gazebo and a barbecue for evenings at home. Staff get warm praise, and several guests mention how quickly requests are answered on WhatsApp. Golf is on the doorstep, and the Seven Colours Spa and the tennis court belong to the same resort. All that space comes with distances. The hotels, with their restaurants, are about ten minutes away by golf buggy, transfers can struggle to reach the villas, and the nearest supermarket is a drive away. Guests also find the food uneven from one restaurant to the next. If you plan to cook some meals yourself and enjoy the quiet, it works well; if you want to stroll out to dinner, it does not.
Why this position
The same guest score as #5 (9.1), on a smaller body of reviews (114 to 618).

Constance Le Chaland IKO Mauritius
Le Morne, Mauritius
Constance Le Chaland IKO suits travellers who want the beach and the pool a few steps from the room, and the airport close by at both ends of the trip… The resort sits on the sand at Le Chaland, next to Blue Bay Marine Park on the south-east coast, and guests speak well of the beach, the pool bar and rooms they describe as spacious and modern. Breakfast gets a lot of praise for its range, and the hotel runs a programme of activities and outings that many guests make use of. The buffet is also where most complaints come from. At peak times there can be a queue, and a few guests found some dishes had gone cold. Popular activities fill up fast, so it pays to sign up early in the stay. Le Morne and Chamarel lie on the far side of the island, which makes this a better base for the south-east than for the south-west.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #6 (459 to 114), at a slightly lower score (8.8 to 9.1).

Heritage Awali
Le Morne, Mauritius
All inclusiveHeritage Awali suits travellers who want an all-inclusive stay that still gives them real choice… Meals and drinks are included across five restaurants, and guests often mention how much variety that adds over a week, along with staff they describe as helpful and attentive. The resort sits on the beach at Bel Ombre on the south coast, with a private beach area, an outdoor pool, a spa and a programme of activities and evening events. Golfers have free access to the golf club, a few minutes away by shuttle, and guests report that the courses are in good condition. There are a few trade-offs. Parts of the shore are rocky, so swimming in the sea is not always easy. Some theme nights carry an extra charge, and a few guests would like more Mauritian dishes on the menus. Le Morne and Chamarel are both within reach for a day out. For a relaxed beach and golf holiday with everything in one place, it is a comfortable choice.
Why this position
Sits behind #7 on both the score (8.6 to 8.8) and the sample it rests on (331 to 459 reviews).
