Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
By Axel Hernborg · Updated 16 August 2026 · How we review hotels
This hotel is best for travellers seeking historic neoclassical architecture and a central location. It holds a Booking.com score of 9.3 from 1334 reviews and a Google rating of 4.4 from 1563 reviews. Standout features include a sustainable heated rooftop lap pool, sophisticated Danish interior design, and close proximity to Copenhagen Central Station. However, guests should expect occasional street noise due to the central location and lively public areas during peak hours.
Guests score it 9.3 out of 10 — the average across the 9 hotels we list in Copenhagen is 9.1.
What Guests Loved
- The 25-meter outdoor pool is heated using surplus energy from the building’s cooling systems, offering a rare year-round swimming experience in the city center with views of the surrounding skyline.
- Located in the former 1912 Central Post and Telegraph building, the property preserves original features such as high ceilings and parquet flooring, blending heritage with high-end modern comforts.
Things to Consider
- Due to its popularity as a social hub for both locals and guests, the lobby and bar can become quite energetic, which might feel less intimate for those seeking total seclusion.
- Its central urban setting means some lower-floor rooms may capture ambient city sounds; however, the installation of high-quality glazing helps maintain a quiet atmosphere for most sleepers.

Reviews from Google“We had a wonderful time at Villa Copenhagen - the location is perfect for traveling in/out and around Copenhagen as it’s right next to the train station and the metro. The staff was lovely and attentive. The bakery it’s connected to (Rug) is fantastic. The pool and sauna area also very nice and hard to find in Copenhagen. The only complaint we had is that the rooms are pretty small - we were in a standard king and there’s only one chair, no desk, and barely anywhere to put your luggage. But everything was clean and the design is very pleasing.”
“My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon while visiting Copenhagen for a week. Absolutely incredible hotel- we will stay here again the next time we visit. We were upgraded to the Deluxe Suite because of our AMEX membership. The room was spacious, clean, and modern, the beds very comfortable. The bathroom vanity was perfect for getting ready. The turn down service was lovely, and we appreciated how quickly they gave us new towels and fresh water for our night stand. The best part was the continental breakfast - they had green smoothies, delicious meats and cheese and salads and fresh rolls from their bakery. Even when we had an early train to catch at 7AM, the breakfast was available for us. Very quiet location (even when there was a massive street festival going on in the city). Highly walkable to the metro and regional train station. We also used the pool for a nightcap and the gym was small but clean and very functional.”
“We LOVED our stay here! The building is extremely beautiful and courtyard and rooms match that. Heated pool and sauna are very enjoyable, and while not at the level of a commercial one, the hotel gym has an above average equipment selection available. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, everyone from Check in, to concierge, restaurant or breakfast service. The courtyard restaurant's food was good, though a bit pricy. Unfortunately Rug restaurant is closed for dinner on Sundays, while we were staying here. The room was also good, though personally I dislike the lack of privacy of bathrooms like here, where the walls are thin and the door is only a sliding one. I liked the interior design choices otherwise and the room was very clean Last but not least: breakfast. Fresh fruit and vege (except for the cherry tomatoes somehow). Fresh juices, Plenty vegan options on the main buffet and a separate gluten free/vegan table with filled vegan croissants, cold cuts, yogurts, milk etc. Vegan stuff has clear labelling, too. The bread and pastries from rug bakery are crazy good here and most of the warm food is also super high quality, like the baked beans, potatoes and mushrooms. The pancakes were a bit disappointing. If they had additional coffee and some egg choices or other dishes made to order, this could easily one of my favourite hotel breakfast.”
“Wonderful stay at this hotel. It is well appointed, the rooms are quite nice. The rooftop/pool are were very pretty. The breakfast was incredible. Fireworks on Saturday night were a great bonus.”
“We stayed at Villa Copenhagen twice (January and May) and both stays were absolutely wonderful. The hotel has a very central location, making it easy to explore the city on foot. The rooms are very comfortable and well designed, and the staff is consistently friendly and attentive, which made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The breakfast was great, and the pool was a real highlight of the stay. Overall, we always felt very comfortable here and will definitely be coming back again.”
