Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 15 September 2026 · How we review hotels
Culturally inclined travellers will appreciate this historic museum-hotel heritage site in Beyoğlu. Holding a 9.1 booking score based on 2822 reviews, the five-star property offers classic nineteenth-century design, views over the Golden Horn, and a modern wellness centre. Be prepared for busy surrounding streets that generate urban noise, as well as a traditional layout that naturally limits the size of some guestrooms.
Guests score it 9.1 out of 10 — the average across the 14 hotels we list in Istanbul is 9.2.
What Guests Loved
- Operating since 1892, the property functions partly as a museum, preserving the elegance of the late Ottoman era with its original architecture and curated historical artifacts.
- Many of the rooms and public areas face westward, offering guests expansive vistas of the Golden Horn waterway, especially striking during sunset.
Things to Consider
- The central location in Beyoğlu means the surrounding streets remain busy late into the night. Soundproofing is effective, but light sleepers may prefer higher-floor rooms.
- Because the building is a protected historical landmark, some entry-level rooms feature compact footprints. Booking a suite offers more generous living space if required.
Should you book it?
Book it if you want
- Guests who want the view from the room
- Travellers who notice architecture and interiors
- Travellers wanting a view and design in one place

Reviews from Google“A truly iconic and timeless hotel in the heart of Istanbul. The magnificent Belle Époque architecture, elegant interiors, historic atmosphere, and exceptional attention to detail make Pera Palace a unique experience. With its fascinating history dating back to 1895 and legendary guests such as Agatha Christie, Ernest Hemingway and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, every corner of the hotel feels like a journey through Istanbul’s history. Absolutely beautiful, elegant and full of character. A must-visit in Istanbul.”
“A truly unforgettable stay at Pera Palace — 10/10 experience We had the most wonderful and memorable stay at Pera Palace Hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything felt elegant, personal, and beautifully handled. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, full of history, charm, and old-world luxury, but what made our stay truly exceptional was the warmth and attentiveness of the team. I had requested a special room arrangement, including a bouquet, and the hotel honoured it perfectly. It made the arrival feel incredibly special and thoughtful. We were also given a personal tour of the historic museum areas of the hotel, including the Atatürk Room, which was such a unique and meaningful experience. It added so much depth to our stay and made us appreciate the heritage of Pera Palace even more. A special thank you to Esma, Baran, Enes and Arda, who assisted us throughout our stay with such kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. Whether it was the guest relations support, service, porter assistance, or management attention, every interaction felt warm, thoughtful, and polished. The entire experience was beyond our expectations. Pera Palace is not just a hotel; it is a living piece of Istanbul’s history, and staying here felt truly special. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and would love to return again. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Istanbul, especially if you are looking for a luxurious, romantic, historic, and deeply memorable stay. 10/10 — a perfect 5-star experience.”
“When you enter this historic hotel you truly feel like entering a palace. It was a privilege and joy to stay there. The fanciful interior, the more than 135 years old elevator, the delicious breakfast including 4 varieties of olives and local treats - they all made for a wonderful stay. But what stood out to me was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. I’ve stayed in many 4 to 5 star hotels for work but the staff here are top notch in comparison. They always do their best. You never wait long for anything. They carry your luggage to your room without question. They offer water while you wait for your taxi on a hot day. They smile and welcome every guest. Akin especially was super kind and made the time really special - big shout out to him! The standard rooms our group booked were clean, well designed and with all the necessities you’d need. The view from the little balcony was something nice to wake up to too. The location was also ideal for us - lots of cute cafes nearby. Walking to the Bosporus takes 15 min or less. Bars and clubs also nearby if that’s your thing - but without noise or commotion. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to try the spa - that’s for next time.”
“Awesome, beautiful and historical hotel with so much charm and grand rooms. Centrally located in a fun and busy area. Really enjoyed our stay here and felt like you were living in history! Very cool it has the first electric elevator in Turkey and used to be a stop for folks on the Orient Express. Definitely would stay here again and if you can't stay, worth grabbing a drink in the beautiful lobby grand room.”
“Although I only visited the spa and did not stay at the hotel, I was genuinely impressed by the atmosphere of Pera Palace. There is something magical about spending time in a place that carries so much history and has welcomed so many remarkable people over the years. The spa has recently been renovated and feels both elegant and peaceful. The staff were professional and attentive, making the experience effortless and relaxing. I especially enjoyed the detox and relaxation oils. For me, the combination of the spa experience and the unique historical ambiance made it much more than just a wellness visit. It felt like a small escape from the city and everyday life.”
