Moorea Boutique Resort Samui is an adults-only hotel for guests aged 16 and over, and its size is the point. With 17 rooms and villas set around gardens and a saltwater pool in Ban Tai, it feels more like a cared-for private house than a resort. Guests talk first about the staff and the owner, who is often on hand, then about the detail: immaculate grounds, sculptures and plants, lights in the trees at night and spotless rooms. The kitchen gets warm praise too, and Ban Tai Beach is a 2-minute walk away. The calm comes with trade-offs. Ban Tai is a quiet stretch of the coast, so shops and nightlife are a ride away, and some of the bungalows and villas are compact. A few guests also felt the price called for a bigger gym and a more varied breakfast.
