Overlooking the Indian Ocean, COMO Maalifushi is a luxury resort on Maalifushi Island. Guests stay in elegantly furnished villas and can book soothing spa treatments. Free WiFi is available in all areas.
All villas feature a dining table, iPod docking station, DVD player and coffee machine. Marble bathrooms come with a large bathtub and a rain shower. Most villas include a spacious private pool.
COMO Shambhala Retreat combines Asian-inspired therapies, nutrition, exercise and yoga. Whale shark excursions take guests out to see the largest fish in the sea up close. Surfers can join scheduled trips to Farms – a contoured reef corner whose even, machine-like waves suit noseriding, fish or finless boards, SUP or, when the swell is up, a shortboard – or book private charters to remote breaks. Surf coaching is run by the surf outfitter Tropicsurf.
The resort has a private beach area and lies a 60-minute seaplane ride from Malé International Airport, in the heart of Thaa Atoll, known for its wide variety of fish and sharks.
Madi serves Maldivian and international dishes all day, Tai serves traditional Japanese cuisine, and Thila Bar is the place for a cocktail. The COMO Shambhala Cuisine menu is built on organic ingredients, with dishes served raw, steamed or grilled.
