Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews

Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 10 October 2026 · How we review hotels

This hotel is best for visitors seeking a historic waterfront warehouse setting steps from canal boat departures. Praised highly by guests, the property features original timber architectural details and a central Nyhavn culinary location. A potential drawback is the noise from bustling harbour crowds, alongside limited on-site parking options.

Situated inside two converted 1800s warehouses, 71 Nyhavn Hotel offers a historic waterfront stay in the heart of Copenhagen's most famous canal district. The property seamlessly blends original timber beams with minimalist Danish design, providing a refined base for cultural travelers. Its location steps from major ferry routes and Amalienborg Palace makes it ideal for sightseers seeking maritime character.

Guests score it 9.1 out of 10 — the average across the 9 hotels we list in Copenhagen is 8.9.

  • Housed within two converted 19th-century spice warehouses, the property retains a maritime character that connects guests directly to Copenhagen's trading history.
  • The hotel sits at the mouth of the Nyhavn canal, allowing guests to board popular sightseeing boats directly outside the lobby entrance.

“What an absolute wonderful hotel!! Matilda at the front desk was amazing. So kind, knowledgeable and accommodating! She made our stay one to remember! The hotel grounds are spotless, our room was so incredibly clean. All the details, no dirty corners, the polished bathroom floor and truly white caulk. Nice job maintenance and cleaning crew. The views of the harbor with all boats and the steady stream of bikes going across the bridge was just wonderful to watch. The bed was a 10 and you can ask for whatever pillow meets your desired comfort. The morning breakfast was second to none! The Omelettes were magical the pastries were better than delicious! Thank you Nyhavn Hotel staff for such a job well done!!”

“It's not a bad hotel, but the price and the five-star hotel marketing are not representative of the reality of the hotel. They're charging Four Seasons prices for simple, no frills rooms. The room itself was tidy and clean, but the walls are quite thin and we could regularly hear people in the rooms on either side of ours having normal conversations, not even being loud. I'll cut them some slack since it's a historic building, but the design of the room felt quite cramped and we bumped our heads a few times on the angled walls (we were on the top floor). I probably should have spent more time researching the amenities of the hotel before booking, but generally I assume that a 5-star property will have a gym and some kind of sauna, but this hotel has neither. Bathroom amenities were minimal as well. Again, not a bad hotel, but they're marketing themselves as an upmarket luxury hotel (and charging corresponding prices) when it's really just a quite basic hotel with pretty unremarkable rooms. They do offer some higher-end hotel amenities like a pillow menu, which is a nice touch. The location of the hotel is excellent, and the front desk staff were always kind and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but at 4500 DKK a night, I don't think the quality is commensurate with the price being charged.”

“Our stay at 71 Nyhavn this late June 2026 was a delight. The hotel's location and the pedestrianized streets made getting to/from CPH very easy. We were able to rent a bicycle and explore the city and sightsee as well. Special shout-out to Mads, who helped me with the booking and special birthday arrival for our day one. Mads was very responsive and helped me set up my member ID for future visits (we will be back!) And the breakfast was another reason for booking after the hotel location. Kudos to the chefs making the omelets, so delicious; everything on the buffet table was fresh and delicious. Weather permitting, and you get to sit outside, do it! We checked in/out with ease; we had no issues with WiFi; the room was cleaned daily, without fuss; we had two fantastic dinners at the hotel restaurant, Il Molo. Giovanni Claudio and Ted were warm, funny, and professional as ever during a busy dinner time. Note: We were in Denmark during an unprecedentedly warm weekend, with temperatures over 30 °C. Our first room had an AC issue, and we were promptly moved to another room while maintenance was called. Reminder that it's Europe, and the smaller styled, lower air-conditioned rooms and other norms are often different from what you are used to, so this hotel was great for the price point/value and centrally located to experience the city and country.”

“Spectacular stay… perfect location, right on the water in colourful Nyhaven, within easy (flat) walking distance of just about everything. A characterful building (original warehouse) rather than a generic international hotel. Quirky, comfortable rooms with original features and all the amenities you need. Excellent service - friendly, warm and attentive without being intrusive. Awesome breakfast…. Good food, good service, nice environment. Nothing I would change…”
