For those planning a stay, note that the property has a secluded location away from nightlife, and there is limited on-site dining variety.

Spinguera Ecolodge is for travellers who come to Boa Vista for space and silence rather than resort life… The old village in Espingueira, abandoned in the 1970s and 80s and restored as a lodge in 2007, stands alone in a nature reserve between desert and ocean, with nine rooms and three villas in local stone. Guests return again and again to the same points: the quiet, the tastefully decorated stone cottages, staff who arrange transport, walks and excursions, and a dinner menu that changes every day and is built on fresh, local produce. The flip side of that seclusion is access and comfort. The lodge sits at the end of a rocky track, the free shuttle to Sal Rei runs only three days a week, and most guests recommend renting a car, preferably a 4x4. There is no beach right by the lodge where you can comfortably swim, the rooms have no air conditioning or TV, and there is no mobile signal. Anyone who wants to disconnect, walk and eat well will find a calm, well-run retreat; travellers who want beach bars and nightlife are better off near Sal Rei.
