How we find, verify, and rank discounts

At Tripplo.co.uk, you can find the latest travel offers as well as discount codes from a range of companies, particularly within travel. We help thousands of travellers from several European countries each month to find the absolute best and latest travel offers from travel agencies and discount codes from everything from travel agencies to online shops. To make our users as satisfied as possible and ensure that all travel offers and discounts work as they should, we use several methods. Below, you can read about some of the different ways we use to find verified and working offers and discount codes, as well as how we rank them.

How we find travel offers and discounts

Our users and community:

Our users on Tripplo.co.uk constantly help us by providing feedback and information about various discounts. This includes submitting travel offers and discount codes with information about everything from expiry dates to what the discount applies to. But also providing feedback on already published travel offers and discounts by writing comments or sending messages to us. Our users also help with other matters relating to various travel offers and discount codes. For example, informing us if there are general terms and conditions around different companies’ offers and discount codes that have recently changed.

Our collaboration with companies via various affiliate networks:

Tripplo.co.uk is connected to several different affiliate networks such as TradeDoubler, Awin, Tradetracker and similar. Via these affiliate networks, companies typically share their latest offers and discounts. By Tripplo.co.uk being connected to the various affiliate networks’ APIs, we can have companies’ latest and verified discount codes and campaigns published here on Tripplo.co.uk within a matter of minutes.

Our unique partnerships with selected companies:

With selected companies and online shops, we establish unique partnerships that give us access to exclusive discounts and campaigns. We then publish these exclusive discounts on Tripplo.co.uk and have full control over them. This means that we, through our partnership, have 100% oversight of what the discount applies to, how long it is valid and other conditions.

Our own searching online for the cheapest holidays and best discounts:

Despite having several sources for finding verified and working offers and discounts, we constantly search ourselves for new travel campaigns and offers. These can be discount codes and discounts that companies and online shops have not chosen to distribute via affiliate networks or that our users and community have not shared with us yet. We spend hundreds of hours each month finding good-value holidays and verified discounts that we can publish.

Our subscriptions to companies’ newsletters:

Another strategy we use to find the latest travel campaigns and discounts is to subscribe to travel agencies’ and various companies’ newsletters. We receive thousands of newsletters each month which we regularly search through to see if there are unique campaigns and discounts that companies have only chosen to share with their newsletter subscribers.

How we verify that travel offers and discounts work:

When we publish travel offers and discounts, we do everything we can to verify that they work. As previously mentioned about how we find the offers and discounts, a good start is to ensure that these come from reliable sources. Although we largely have reliable sources for offers, discounts and discount codes, we always ensure that they follow our guidelines. Our guidelines that must be met for travel offers, discounts and discount codes to remain published are as follows:

  • If it is a campaign or travel offer and not a discount code, this should be clear in the description of the offer.
  • If it is a campaign or offer and not a discount code, the user should be linked to the campaign or offer after clicking on “SHOW DISCOUNT/DISCOUNT CODE”.
  • If it is a pure travel offer the price should not fluctuate too much. That a price on a holiday changes by a few per cent from hour to hour is quite normal in the travel industry, but if larger price movements occur, the travel offer is removed or updated with the new price.
  • If it is a discount code, campaign or offer that has an expiry date, this should be clearly stated.
  • If it is a discount code, campaign or offer that does NOT have an expiry date, it should be clearly stated that the discount applies until further notice.
  • If it is a discount code and not a campaign or offer, it should be clear in the discount description that there is a discount code.
  • If it is a discount code and not a campaign or offer, there should be a discount code that is shown when a user clicks on “SHOW DISCOUNT/DISCOUNT CODE”.
  • If it is a discount code and not a campaign or offer, the discount code should, after all voucher conditions are met, provide a price reduction at checkout that corresponds to what was promised.

Ensuring that these guidelines are met is primarily the responsibility of Axel Hernborg, but occasionally gets help from other editors who assist with the editorial work.

How we rank travel offers and discounts:

We are constantly working to improve our Tripplo.co.uk and how we rank our travel offers and discounts. As it stands today, we have chosen to rank travel offers and discounts according to how current they are.

When you visit a page where we list travel offers with package holidays, these offers are ranked in the following order:

  1. We primarily rank the most recently published campaigns highest up. The newer an offer is, the higher up it will appear.
  2. On certain subpages with travel offers, we may choose to rank the offers that have the earliest departure date highest up. This particularly applies to subpages where we publish last-minute offers.

When you visit a page with discounts and discount codes from specific companies, the discounts are ranked in the following order:

  1. We primarily rank the discount codes and offers we list according to their expiry date. The closer to the expiry date, the higher up a campaign or discount code will appear.
  2. If there is no expiry date for a campaign or discount code, they are ranked according to how new they are. The newer, the higher up they will appear.
