What Guests Loved
- Guests benefit from the private Jacarandá Lounge & Club, which offers a secluded environment for breakfast and evening cocktails, distinct from the main hotel’s busier dining venues.
- The rooftop pool deck provides panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Funchal coastline, featuring attentive poolside service and high-quality loungers for quiet relaxation.
Things to Consider
- Being a boutique concept within the larger Savoy Palace, guests must navigate a grand, multi-wing architecture which can feel less intimate than a traditional standalone boutique hotel.
- While The Reserve offers dedicated areas, the majority of the six swimming pools and beach facilities are shared with the wider resort population, which may be busy during peak seasons.

What guests say
Reviews from Google“The Reserve is truly a special destination, first and foremost due to its excellent staff. The team caters to your needs in a personalized way that exceeds any other luxury hotel we have visited. Here, you are not just a "room number". We want to highlight the great vegetarian and vegan food we were offered during our stay, the staff even remembered our distaste for mushrooms and made special menu items just for us during multiple dinners which we appreciated very much. The suite we had was exceptionally clean, very modern and nothing was left to be desired. I want to also extend special thanks to Zita for organizing in-hotel medical assistance for a minor injury that I acquired during one of our outdoor activities which saved us a great deal of hassle during our otherwise perfect vacation on Madeira.”
“Most incredible, beautiful stay. Couldn’t recommend more. Every member of the team you speak to are lovely, the standard and experience they deliver is phenomenal. If you’re debating whether to book, do it! The views, being able to have breakfast with a full view of the sunrise over the ocean is breathtaking. The infinity pool on the roof, to the multiple access to other sister hotels is amazing.”
“After visiting 118 countries and staying in truly luxurious hotels around the globe, I firmly believed that nothing can surprise me anymore. And here it is - The Reserve, Madeira. From the moment you get out of your plane in Funchal airport and till boarding your flight back home The Reserve takes care of you and your wellbeing. Individual track in airport, waiting lounge, speed-up formalities - we did felt like dear guests. The rooms and the hotel facilities - restaurant/bar, pool and hospitality desk are autonomous from the surrounding Savoy Palace's infrastructure and its hussle. We dived into comfort and relaxation from the moment we arrived. Rooms had everything we could dream of to get during a lazy vacation - pillow menu, extensive minibar, cosy sofas, bath salt, clips for your loosened up charging cords, not mentioning extreme cleanliness and modern warm interiors. A bottle of a complementary aged smooth Madeira wine on your table was the cherry on the cake. Gastronomic scene was impressive - from amazing a la carte breakfast on roof top terrace to exclusive dinner experience in fine dining Nikkei restaurant. We liked it all - great service, mouthwatering cuisine. However, being inside a wide hotel area (Savoy Palace, Royal Savoy and The Reserve) we could dine and drink in a dozen bars, cafes and restaurants. No space to express all the positive moments but I can't help mentioning the people, the staff who surrounded us with love and care. Thank you. Some day I will be back.”
“We had our anniversary here in March 2025. It was incredible and we felt welcomed as a gay couple. The hotel was a little empty in the off-season which was lovely. We mostly had the enormous spa to ourselves, so cool exploring all the unique features it had. I think we got extra attention from the staff that went above and beyond every day to make sure our stay was perfect. The breakfast buffet with fresh squeezed juice was luxe, dinner service was really special, so many wines, Juan was an especially memorable waiter. Really enjoyed the panoramic views from rooftop pool. It was a little hard to find the way but we also enjoyed strolling down to the sea (the hotel also owns the smaller hotel in front of it). Our ocean views from our private balcony was a treat for morning coffee, excellent bed, the room had everything you expect and more, and special touches left daily for us to enjoy. Room service was good. Staff gave great advice for exploring the whole the island and lesson on how to pronounce words. The highlight of our stay was our last dinner, they hired a violinist to play for us while we watched the sunset, it was very romantic and I will never forget it. We would absolutely stay again, we didn’t want to leave.”
“My stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed, and I immediately felt the professional and friendly atmosphere. The staff was consistently attentive, courteous, and always greeted me with a smile – making me feel genuinely at home. I especially want to highlight the housekeeping: our room was cleaned impeccably every day and was always perfectly prepared, which made the entire experience incredibly comfortable. The cleanliness, attention to detail, and quick service truly exceeded my expectations. The hotel itself exudes elegance and comfort, with high-quality and well-maintained amenities. Overall, it was a perfect experience that I highly recommend to everyone. I’m already looking forward to my next stay.”
