Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews

By Axel Hernborg · Updated 11 September 2026 · How we review hotels

Lagon Life Spirit scores 9.4 on Booking from 1,233 reviews and 4.6 on Google. Guests praise the private pools, the views and the attentive service, and breakfast in the room is a recurring highlight. It is a city hotel rather than a beach hotel: the nearest beach is a couple of kilometres away and the old harbour a taxi ride.

Guests score it 9.4 out of 10 — the average across the 43 hotels we list in Crete is 9.1.

  • A private pool with every room
  • Sea views towards Agioi Theodoroi
  • Breakfast served in the room
  • Small and quiet, in historic Halepa

Great all around hotel. The room was bright and comfy with an amazing view. Having a private deck and mini pool were also a nice touch. The tech in the room was actually the most surprising. Almost everything was powered and controllable from the bedside; lights, fan, window shades, blackout curtains. It even had rest and sleep settings that auto adjusted the room based on whether you were lounging or turning in for the night. The overall hotel was very nice as well. There is a larger indoor/outdoor pool if you wanted move swimming space, as well as a spa, hot tub, and a gym. This hotel is located far enough from the city center where you don’t get the noise and light pollution at night, but close enough where you can get to old town or the port in less than 10 minutes by cab, which cost €12 each way. If you don’t feel comfortable calling a cab, you can have the hotel staff call one for you. You can even call the hotel and give them your location and they’ll have a cab sent to you. The breakfast each morning is great. They give you a menu sheet to complete the day prior and you just call the front desk whenever you’re ready to eat and they deliver it to your room.

Wonderful experience with 1-2 significant drawbacks. Starting what is good (at least for the room with sea view) - nice room and terrace - breakfast in the room - also dinner can be served in the room. Very good shrimp pasta But also one “major” (major vs the expectations of a 5 stars hotel): - spa treatments must be reserved more than one day in advance, and are available only in the afternoon. Meaning: we reserved for 2 nights (in April, not even August) and we could not have access to the treatments. And this is structural, even written in their instructions. Implication: the hotel is a 5 stars hotel with wellbeing treatments, but if you reserve for less than 3 nights, pity for you. Also the breakfast was not great (clearly not fresh, prepared the day before). Pity. The structure is nice and the potential is there

Private pool is not really a private pool in the Executive and Superior Rooms. Others from other rooms still have the view to our terrace and private pool. The TV screen is this small, that yo cannot see anything from the bed. Free of charge drinking water are not refilled every day. Gym is very small and machines are partially out of order. Ordered free of charge hot breakfast (e. g. omelette, scrambled eggs or coffee) is every day cold until it arrives and served at our room. Its really a pity, not having with just a wonderful view at our terrace and private pool, a warm breakfast às ordered. The quality of the various food is very good! Sunchairs at our room without mattress, becomes very hard to relax only with a towel. Sunumbrella too small to get shadow on the terrace. Indoor parking lot excellent.

My experience with Maria at the spa was truly exceptional. I chose the aromatherapy massage with a scalp and foot massage, and it was one of the most relaxing, indulgent treatments I’ve ever had. She created such a calming, comfortable atmosphere and really took the time to listen to what my body needed. Her technique is both intuitive and incredibly skilled and you can tell she genuinely knows what she’s doing. I left feeling completely restored, relaxed, and taken care of. Easily one of the best massages I’ve ever experienced. Highly recommend!

On a busy street / intersection. Awesome, very modern / sleek hotel. Amazing breakfasts included. Best hotel breakfast we've ever had anywhere and so many choices. Just a little too far from the beach or city center (about 15 minutes drive). Great view as well.
