Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
By Axel Hernborg · Updated 29 August 2026 · How we review hotels
Guests score it 9.5 out of 10 — the average across the 13 hotels we list in Amsterdam is 9.
What Guests Loved
- The hotel occupies a prominent position on Dam Square, offering guests direct and unobstructed views of the historic Royal Palace from their windows.
- With only sixteen suites, each space features bespoke design elements, handmade furniture, and opulent materials curated to create a distinct residential feel.
Things to Consider
- Its central location on Dam Square means the surrounding area is often crowded and noisy. Triple-glazed windows block most sound, but light sleepers may still notice ambient street bustle.
- As an intimate suite-only property, the hotel lacks larger traditional amenities such as a dedicated spa or fitness center. However, in-room wellness treatments can easily be arranged.

What guests say
Reviews from Google“Hands down, the best hotel my husband and I have ever stayed at. We travel the world frequently and enjoy everything from quaint Airbnbs to luxury hotels, so we’ve experienced a wide range of accommodations. This hotel exceeded every expectation. The staff was truly second to none. Every person we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to make our stay exceptional. Our room was immaculate, it had the softest bed, cozy linens, and a bathroom with a steam shower, jacuzzi tub, and bidet. Breakfast was absolutely delicious (you have to try it), and the service was just as outstanding as every other aspect of our stay. I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. If you’re looking for exceptional hospitality, comfort, and attention to detail, this hotel is unforgettable.”
“Great Junior suite with beautiful decor. Probably one of the best hotels and rooms I have stayed in and I have stayed in many around the world. Stay soured by: 1) offered nighly turned down service but did not happen. Didn't bother asking again after returning from dinner. 2) Asked and granted 2pm (instead of noon) late checkout (Hilton Diamond) when checking in. Next morning was interrupted at breakfast to be told that as hotel is full, we had to leave by 1pm. We could stay till 2pm if we paid an extra €200 for the extra hour....I thought hotel was full! We left at 1pm. 3) At checkout, the room had to be checked in case "we had left something behind" before we could leave hotel! What an insult! They already had a hold of €700 on my credit card. For the price point, the stay should have been flawless but it wasn't! So temper your expectations....”
“I had an absolutely wonderful stay here. The breakfast was exceptionally well-prepared, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The room itself was spacious, and the decor was very tasteful. The staff was another highlight. Everyone was so friendly, especially the bellman who helped me with my luggage and even checked the train schedule for me. The restaurant staff were also warm and welcoming, and we had a lovely chat. The only thing I can complain about is the huge picture hanging on the wall right beside my bed. The face in the portrait is so large and close to the bed that I felt like she was staring right at me! I actually had to wear an eye mask to fall asleep and ended up having a nightmare. 😅 p.s. the Lalique handwash smells so good, I’m gonna buy one bottle to use at home”
“Staying in the signature suite here was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, replete with awe inspiring design and architecture. The staff were on the same exact level as well! This is the best room my wife and I have ever stayed in, and eating at Bougainville made it an even more spectacular experience!”
“From the entrance to the hotel, it feels like a medieval aristocrat, and the state-of-the-art sauna in the room, including a private Butler, is stunning. All rooms are suites, so there are not many, but they seem to be very spacious and detailed. It was an ecstatic experience that I didn't want to check-in and go out of the hotel. The price is high, but the experience of Amsterdam Twenty Seven is unforgettable.❤️”
