Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews

By Axel Hernborg · Updated 23 August 2026 · How we review hotels

Hotel Principe Di Savoia - Dorchester Collection is ideal for travellers seeking traditional northern Italian grandeur combined with effortless city transit. It has a 9.1 Booking.com score across 1099 reviews and a 4.7 Google rating from 2855 reviews. Standout features include immediate access to Repubblica transport links, a top-floor spa with a frescoed pool, and a complimentary limousine city shuttle. However, some guests find its traditional aesthetic may feel dated, and its distance from the Duomo district is a drawback for those seeking a highly central stay.

Situated on the Piazza della Repubblica, Hotel Principe Di Savoia offers a formal interpretation of Milanese hospitality with heritage-focused interiors. Featuring a frescoed rooftop spa and a private city shuttle, it is suited for travelers who value traditional luxury and quiet proximity to major transport hubs.

Guests score it 9.1 out of 10 — the average across the 13 hotels we list in Milan is 9.2.

  • The rooftop Club 10 Spa features a heated indoor pool adorned with intricate frescoes and views of the city skyline. It provides a quiet retreat from the Piazza della Repubblica with high-end wellness facilities.
  • The hotel provides a scheduled private limousine service that transports guests directly to the historic center and shopping districts. This amenity facilitates easy exploration of the city without the need to navigate public transit.

Absolutely fabulous. From the moment I arrived, the property impressed: beautifully appointed rooms, a terrific location, and a staff who elevated every part of the stay. A special thank you to Monica on the concierge team, who organized two extraordinary private excursions for me and did so with warmth, expertise, and impeccable attention to detail. She helped me experience Milan in ways I simply would not have discovered on my own. I was also deeply appreciative of the hotel manager’s graciousness when a pending airport labor strike forced me to cut my stay short by a day. In a stressful moment, the hotel responded with genuine hospitality and generously waived any penalty for the unexpected change. Great hotels offer beautiful rooms and excellent service. Exceptional hotels make you feel cared for. I have found my new “home” whenever I return to Milan. Grazie mille! 🇮🇹

Luxurious hotel. Loved the stunningly elegant decoration and really enjoyed the Club 10 facilities (hydro pool, swimming pool, steam and sauna room). You can enjoy some stunning views over Milan on the 10th floor rooftop that is accessed via the Club 10 facilities. Rooms were spacious and cleaned to a superb standard. Breakfast was absolutely delicious; it would be hard to beat the fresh croissants (pistachio and almond croissants we out of this world) and made to order eggs

My experience at the Principe di Savoia has been nothing but superb. This hotel has a soul and everyone went the extra miles to accommodate, making me feel welcome. A special mention to Vanessa from the Customer Experience team and Giada at the SPA for the Swedish massage. Enjoyed the swimming pool late too. Great lunch and aperitivo at L’Acanto (veal with tuna sauce, mixed greens, cape flowers and anchovies, tagliatelle with butter, parmesan and Parma ham, cocktails), late lunch al fresco (Vitello tonnato, burgers, cocktails) outside from Il Salotto with friends. True dedication and flawless customer service, looking forward to visiting again soon.

Stayed for a couple of nights at the hotel as I was intrigued by the Dorchester Collection, having previously stayed at Plaza Athénée in Paris. This property feels rather dated and would greatly benefit from a refresh (my personal opinion, others might like it). I understand the hotel is approaching its 100-year anniversary next year, but historic charm can still coexist with modern facilities and amenities. Hotel & Room: The hotel itself feels very old-fashioned, with somewhat gloomy interiors for my taste. While the room and bathroom were pleasantly spacious, several expected five-star amenities were missing. There was no in-room kettle, tea selection, or Nespresso machine — something that is now standard even in many four-star hotels. A kettle had to be requested, and the tea selection was not replenished after the first order, which felt unnecessarily stingy. Similarly, there was no iron or ironing board readily available in the room and these also had to be requested, whereas most five-star hotels nowadays keep them in the wardrobe as standard. The hotel has a great gym and pool facilities (one of the main reasons why I chose this hotel). Service: Reception, concierge, and room service staff were all attentive, professional, and friendly throughout the stay. Food: I ordered room service and also had breakfast during my stay, both of which were excellent. Location: The hotel is located roughly 8–10 minutes by car from both Milano Centrale and the Duomo area. The complimentary shuttle service to the Duomo and shopping district is a nice touch, though the hotel is not within convenient walking distance of either. It’s also worth noting that taxis in Milan can be difficult to find during rush hour and peak travel seasons, so transportation should be planned accordingly. Overall Verdict: Overall, an average/ok experience for the price point (was priced as the cheapest 5 star property in Milan around the time I booked). I think it’s a good hotel but personally, I would choose a place closer to the Duomo area for convenience.

Our stay here at the hotel has been nothing short of phenomenal. The hotel was perfectly located for us to be able to walk to restaurants and to the train station for day trips to Torino and Como. The hotel itself is incredible. The rooms are amazing, as is the bar and restaurant where we had a brilliant breakfast every morning. The cocktails in the bar were first class and perfect for a pre-dinner drink. The staff are the best part of the hotel. They always have a smile and are so welcoming. A special mention to Rosy, who is an absolute credit to the hotel. She really took care of us and made sure our stay was as memorable as it could be. Her recommendations were perfect for us and the overall support was first class. I can’t thank her enough for making this trip so enjoyable. We are definitely planning to return when we visit Milan again!
