Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
By Axel Hernborg · Updated 16 August 2026 · How we review hotels
Perfect for travellers wanting a quiet, residential retreat in the city. Ett Hem maintains a booking score of 9.3 from 205 reviews and a Google rating of 4.8 from 451 reviews. Set in quiet Östermalm, it offers an intimate courtyard with garden seating and a kitchen-centric communal dining experience alongside curated modern Scandinavian interior design. On the downside, the hotel is situated at a distance from the central business district, and its small scale results in limited availability.
Guests score it 9.3 out of 10 — the average across the 10 hotels we list in Stockholm is 9.2.
What Guests Loved
- Housed in a 1910 Arts and Crafts townhouse, the property maintains the feel of a private residence rather than a traditional hotel. This layout prioritizes guest privacy and comfort within a quiet residential neighborhood.
- The secluded courtyard acts as a garden sanctuary, featuring several brick-paved areas and lush greenery. It provides a quiet transition between the urban surroundings and the property's intimate interior spaces.
Things to Consider
- The property is situated about 1.2 miles from Sergels torg, which may require a taxi or subway ride for those with meetings downtown. However, the nearby neighborhood offers excellent local boutiques and cafes away from tourist crowds.
- With a very small number of rooms, the hotel often reaches full capacity months in advance. Travelers planning a visit during the summer months or fashion weeks should prioritize early booking to secure a stay.

Reviews from Google“Within a few hours, this became one of our favorite boutique hotels in the world. From the moment you walk through the gate into the garden, you have a sense of warmth and place. It really is a destination unto itself and we didn’t want to leave. From the moment you have a tour of the property, you feel welcome into someone’s home. Each area is unique, the art on the walls is amazing, there is nothing mundane or generic about it. We had plans that we cancelled to spend time reading and playing games in the wonderful seating areas while sipping drinks from the honor bar. So many hotels are grand or beautiful but lack soul and warmth. Ett Hem (meaning “at home”) envelops you and makes you feel welcome. Highly recommended (but note the location may not be for everyone). We will definitely return!”
“A truly wonderful stay. I felt like coming home. I stayed for one night and it was a fantastic experience. Although we arrived early on the day of check-in, the staff welcomed us warmly and even served a wonderful breakfast. The team is so kind and hospitable that we felt like we were back at our family home. The lunch was also exceptional (note: advance booking is required). Both the rooms and the entire building are beautifully designed, with charming art pieces everywhere. There are also drinks available throughout the hotel, making it easy to truly relax. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Stockholm.”
“Super charming, it is a unique property and they really make the experience feel like you’re in a home not a hotel (no menu, you ask for things and chef makes it, lots of open lounging areas, you make your own drink at the bars, staff mingling among guests etc). It’s very aesthetic and clearly they take a lot of pride and care for attention to detail. I have stayed 2 different times and in different room types, and I will say it makes a a big difference. The small room for the price doesn’t really feel like the best value or getting the full experience so I’d only go for the larger room.”
“We had a wonderful first stop on our honeymoon at Ett Hem for 3 nights. The staff were some of the most welcoming and kind. We thought we would eat out in the city, but Ett Hem has two amazing kitchens and we ate there all 3 nights with 3 amazing dinners. Each morning was a buffet of fresh fruits, cheese, eggs, & coffee. Besides the food, the house is beautifully decorated with captivating art on every level, it was the equivalent of staying in a museum with beverages served at every corner. There is also a private sauna in the basement (just reserve it early!)”
“Some of the negative reviews honestly surprised me, because my experience was absolutely wonderful. I came to celebrate my 25th birthday with my girlfriend and we had an amazing evening from start to finish. The welcome was warm, the staff was incredibly kind, the service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. The wine was excellent as well. A big thank you to the whole team for such a memorable experience. We will definitely come back!”
