“Of all the places we have stayed in Europe, this hotel provides the highest level of service without any pretentiousness. The rooms are exactly what we needed and the breakfast is the best combination of continental and local favorites. Marie (the restaurant) is also excellent for dinner (reservations preferred) and Freddy's for a bar with friends.”

“Very old hotel that hasn’t been updated in a hundred years or more. Very old carpeting throughout the hallways and rooms. Very bad lighting in hallways, rooms and bathrooms. Very small rooms with very old furniture. The beds are comfortable though, that’s the only good thing about the rooms. The employees are friendly, very courteous, they greet you every time you walk by. The room service sucks, they don’t refill the water, they don’t refill the champagne or fruits even if you stay multiple days. For $2,000 euros a night you expect a certain level of service and quality of place, you’re not going to get it here. I would never go back to this place or recommend it to anyone.”

“An absolutely unforgettable stay. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and exceptional service. Every staff member was kind, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to make us feel special. The hotel itself is stunning elegant, truly inviting, and perfectly located in the heart of Amsterdam. Our room was beautiful, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed, making it a true retreat after exploring the city. The bathroom was a welcome surprise and a “Wow!” moment with warm floors and even heated walls, which made it feel like such a luxurious spa experience. We also loved spending time at Freddy's Bar inside the hotel. The atmosphere is so chic with amazing vibes, a classic feel, and the bartenders craft truly excellent cocktails. The complimentary mixed nuts (with a touch of wasabi) and uncommonly good olives were such a thoughtful touch that made the experience even more enjoyable. A very special thank you to the doorman, who was so sweet, kind, and incredibly helpful. He truly went out of his way to help us explore the city, offering great suggestions and always greeting us with a warm smile; you made every return to the hotel feel like coming home. “What an amazing traditional hotel. Excellent service from all staff. The room is large and decorated beautifully in traditional period. Feels very grand. Bed was super king with beautiful sheets, comfy mattress. Breakfast outstanding with spectacular views over the canals. Great location, highly recommend!”

“Everything was top notch, but what stood out most was the incredible service and friendly staff. The concierge took great care of us, the porters were endlessly patient with us asking to get stuff out of our bags all day while we stored them, we had a particularly friendly lady help us with breakfast most mornings, we didn’t see housekeeping much but they gave us little treats and cable organizers and always seemed to know the perfect time to work on our room. The spa, front desk, and everyone made our stay feel special and homey at the same time.”
