Tripplo's verdict, based on guest reviews
By Axel Hernborg · Updated 29 August 2026 · How we review hotels
Guests score it 8.9 out of 10 — the average across the 13 hotels we list in Amsterdam is 9.
What Guests Loved
- The hotel breathes new life into Amsterdam's former public library, incorporating literary motifs and local history into its structure. Guests can explore subtle nods to Dutch heritage throughout the public spaces.
- Situated on the Prinsengracht canal, the property puts guests within walking distance of the Nine Streets shopping district and major museums. It offers an authentic sense of neighborhood living.
Things to Consider
- Driving and parking in Amsterdam's historic center is notoriously difficult, and the hotel's secure valet services come with a premium price tag. Utilizing the city's efficient public transit or park-and-ride options is a practical alternative.
- The vibrant, avant-garde interiors by Marcel Wanders feature unconventional artwork and open-plan bathroom concepts in some rooms. Travelers seeking classic, understated luxury might find the aesthetic slightly overwhelming.

What guests say
Reviews from Google“I am very happy with our stay at Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht. From Check In to check out, we have pleasant experiences. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. We arrived earlier than check in time on rainy day and I was drenched; the receptionist was kindly help us to get an early check in. Shout out to Owen who made my day! The room is spacious and clean. The bed is comfortable. We booked room with the twin beds and garden view. The hotel location is very strategic and within walking distance to all of our point of interests. Overall it’s an enjoyable stay and definitely we will be back here.”
“I am so glad we chose the Andaz. We had a spacious room overlooking the garden. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The layout felt a little odd due to the bathroom placement, but it wouldn’t stop me from staying here. I appreciated the complimentary mini bar. Service was over the top amazing. We felt spoiled. Room service food was good and decently priced for room service. Their fries were crispier than the viral place around the corner. Location was superb. Easy to access lots of areas of Amsterdam and on the edge of the Jordaan. Lots of cafes around and a short walk to public transit. Overall, a great experience.”
“We recently stayed at the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht and came away with a genuine appreciation for what this hotel does well. Set right on the canal, the location alone makes it a wonderful base for exploring the city — we loved being able to step outside and immediately be surrounded by that classic Amsterdam charm, with cafes, shops, and canal boats just steps from the door. The room itself exceeded expectations. The design was sleek and modern without feeling cold, and every detail felt thoughtfully considered, from the lighting to the linens. It was the kind of space that made us want to linger in the mornings before heading out for the day, and a peaceful retreat to come back to after a full day of sightseeing. The bar was easily one of our favorite parts of the stay. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do — every cocktail we tried was well balanced and beautifully presented, and the ambiance made for a perfect way to wind down each evening. It's the kind of hotel bar you'd happily visit even if you weren't staying at the property. The one area that fell short was the climate control in the common areas and hallways. During the warmer summer days, the AC in these shared spaces didn't quite keep pace, which felt a bit at odds with the otherwise high standard of the hotel — especially given the room rates. It wasn't enough to ruin the experience, but it's worth mentioning for future guests visiting in summer. Overall, the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht delivered a stylish, comfortable, and memorable stay, and the excellent bar and prime canal-side location make it easy to recommend. We'd return in a heartbeat — just hoping the hallways feel a bit cooler next time.”
“This hotel was a bit of a splurge, but in the end, what a great memory. It was totally worth it. The hotel sits right on a scenic canal, in a quiet spot, with great views. The friendly staff remember you the next time you show up, and they’re a lot of fun to chat with. The place has great breakfasts, and a fun bar to sit at before wandering off to one of the city’s many amazing nearby restaurants for dinner.”
“Really loved this place. Great location and everything about it was just simple and easy. Awesome lobby bar that has complimentary gin tasting most evenings. Rooms were an interesting layout with the vanity/sinks in the bedroom rather than in the bathroom but it didn’t really bother us.”
