Brussels Airlines, which was established in 2002 and has its headquarters at Brussels Airport, serves as the national airline of Belgium. The airline is one of the Lufthansa Group's hub airlines and serves as a gateway for passengers travelling to and from North America, Africa, and Europe.
Brussels Airlines is the national airline of Belgium in addition to being one of the four network airlines that are owned and operated by the Lufthansa Group. Brussels Airport serves as a connection point for approximately 85 destinations, 17 of which are located in sub-Saharan Africa. These destinations can be reached from the European capital. The organisation is responsible for the operation of 41 aeroplanes and has 3,100 employees.
Fleet Renewal
A modern aircraft fleet is the most potent lever Brussels Airlines can use to achieve their goal of reducing the amount of carbon dioxide emissions that is produced. In 2019, they revitalised our long-haul fleet with more fuel efficient models, resulting in a 3.1 percent reduction in fuel consumption.
This was accomplished by harmonising their fleet such that it only consists of Airbus aircraft, which resulted in a 46 percent reduction in CO2 emissions per passenger.
In addition to this, Brussels Airlines is planning to begin introducing brand new a320neo aircraft beginning in 2023. These planes will allow for a noise contour reduction of fifty percent, as well as a reduction of eleven percent in fuel use and carbon dioxide emissions for each trip.
All flights operated by Brussels Airlines include available cargo space, which is marketed and sold by Lufthansa Cargo. Additionally, the airline is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of its aircraft fleet.
